Found this on the Intel forums:

"If ANY drive whatsoever is connected to the Marvell controller (I had a regular HDD connected) then starting SSD Toolbox will give a BSOD 0x3D (no matter where the SSD itself is connected). I guess it happens because the toolbox is trying to ask Marvell for some disk info (god forbid)? The workaround is to disconnect all/any drives from the Marvell 9128 controller (basically the two SATA 3-connections on the motherboard). It's also possible to completely disable it in BIOS."

So it seems to be the Marvell Controller? (I am using the Marvell 9128 Controller.)

Joe_intel suggests to update the Marvell* SATA controller driver. How can I do this? Do I have to reinstall my OS if I change?

Hello Kevin,

1) My BIOS is up to date. Version 1300 (Rampage 3 GENE) .

2) How can I check the version of the Intel® Management Engine?

3) The firmware version of my SSD is 400i (I looked in Device Manager)

Do I need to run the Firmware Update Tool, because 400i is the latest version?

I installed the SSD myself, maybe I messed up some settings?

Thanks for helping me out.

In this case, in order to update the Marvel Controller you need to contact the manufacture directly for them to provide the latest firmware update.

Kevin M
