I am attempting to clone my OS partition onto an Intel 320 SSD using Carbon Copy Cloner after formatting it as a single partition drive using DiskUtility. However every 1 - 2gb the system tells me two things: 1) that the drive has been improperly disconnected, and 2) the drive has disappeared because the mount point has changed.

The drive is connected via two usb connectors to a Mac Pro Tower's front usb ports.

I have re-started the cloning process twice and it still quits every 2.1 gigs or so. Has anyone else encountered this condiition? Solutions? Ideas?

Thanks,

Glen

I assume you are using a USB-to-SATA adapter? These are not always reliable.

Would you have the ability to connect the drive via SATA instead?

Yes, I used the adapter and yes, I can open up the tower and do it through SATA, which I will do tonight. Kind of an unnerving introduction to SSD though, since rotating drives hook up via USB, firewire, or SATA without an issue.

Final Note: I connected the SSD to the internal SATA bus and it behaves normally (so far, knock on wood!).
