Once the drive is unlocked (ATA password sent to drive) it behaves like any other drive. Reading raw from the SSD (with a backup tool, dd on Linux etc) yields the actual data.

Never too late to get an answer I guess.

What software/procedure would you recommend to image a 320 series ssd with an ATA password enabled? I would like to be able to create images that are easily restored (proper alignment). My goal is to keep these images on a standard hdd and then restore them as nessesary.

Do I need to do anything special in regards to the windows recovery partition?

Also does the full disk encryption have any effect on imaging/backup? Are backups still compressable?

I'm brand new to SSD's and really appriciate the time some of you put into helping people on these forums. Thanks for your help!

I thought this would be a relevant topic with the bad context 13 issue going around. Doesn't anyone on these forums create/restore drive images?
