Yesterday I crashed the MFT after removing a SSD from my labtop.

I have verified the health of the SSD and think I might have been to

quick to removed it after shutting down the labtop.

What is the recommended procedure for removing a SSD from a system?

Unplug it take out the battery press the power switch serveral times to get rid of any left over juice . than turn it over and remove the drive. If you want to check it's condition mount it in a external encloser and check it with another computer.
