Hello everybody. I was wondering if with a Koutech IO-PESA 230 (the pci e SATA 6 gb/s controller I wish to use) I will still be able to run trim on my brand new 510 SSD. It is not a raid card and that really all I've seen that would stop trim. Anybody with an idea would be great. I don't think it will because I haven't seen anybody complaining about issues but better safe than sorry. Thanks, Evilrising

What controller does the Koutech actually use? It should say on the primary chip on the card. i.e. Marvel, PLX, etc?

I don't believe any host-based controllers (other than Intel) have drivers that support TRIM. You would have to make sure the W7 native AHCI drivers will work if you want TRIM.

Well my issue is that neither on newegg where I found the card or on koutech's website could I find exactly what controller the card uses. Here is the PDF to the manufactures website on the card. http://www.koutech3.com/public/datasheet/pesa230.pdf http://www.koutech3.com/public/datasheet/pesa230.pdf

I can see it right there on the photograph of the card in that PDF. It's a Marvell, assuming that's not a stock photograph.

Look at the card itself. It does seem to be a Marvell... which one? The model is printed on the IC.
