i ordered several hours ago. fwiw new egg only has the 9mm version of the 160gb drive. thanks.

Buy.com and Newegg have indeed both begun shipping the 160GB over the last day or two.

Newegg shows an estimated arrival of 8/28 for the 80GB.

Some people should start receiving them over the weekend, and can hopefully confirm they're really the G2 and if they already have the new firmware applied or not. Assumably, they should.

And hopefully we see the 80GB by the end of the month.

For what it's worth, just confirming the 160GB drives being shipped right now apparently truly are the G2 and do come with the new firmware pre-installed.

Other places like BeachAudio.com are now starting to show them in stock too. Newegg sold out for now and Buy.com is down to the single digits in stock.

...And now the 80GB are being reported in-stock and shipping from places like Buy.com.

The only places that have the 160 now are charging premium prices for them.

But things are now out there, confirmed G2 with the new firmware, and shipping.
