Hi, I've got 2 of the intel x25m gen2 drives shipped with old firmware. It is factory sealed and I wanted to update the firmware before the installation of any OS (1 for mac 1 for windows).

My question is, can I update the firmware via an external usb enclosure? I have a sata2usb connector. Or do I actually have to install the blank ssd into my laptop for the firmware flash?

Intel doesn`t says anything about to do the firmware upgrade through USB, so you couldn`t do anything with it.

I`m afraid the upgrader program couldn`t see your SSDs through USB, so you have to put it some computer and upgrade it through Sata connection.
