it's unnecessary to secure erase a trim-capable ssd before installing an operating system that supports trim.

just do a quick format in windows setup, this will trim the drive.

Hi,

I have an Intel 320 120GB SSD, SSDSA2CW120G3K5.

I have Windows 7 x64 intsalled on the SSD, I want to re-format the SSD-drive and re-install Windows on it.

I can't Secure Earse from the Intel SSD Toolbox as the SSD is a boot drive and Windows by default has created a 100MB partition.

Now I have read that re-formatting an SDD during the installation of Windows (like you would with a normal HDD) significantly decreases its performance.

So my question is, which method do I follow and go about re-formatting and re-installing Windows on the SSD?
